Automatic Water Deionizer Systems

An automatic water deionizer system is a water purification system that removes dissolved minerals (ions)—such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, chloride, and sulfate—from water using ion exchange resins. These systems are called automatic because they monitor water quality and regenerate the resins automatically, without requiring manual intervention.

Automatic Water Deionizer

Two Column Water Deionizer Systems

Two column automatic water deionizer systems consist of two media tanks in series. The first tank contains cation resin in the Hydrogen (H) form and the second tank contains anion resin in the Hydroxyl (OH) form. Typical treated water quality is in the range of 50,000-250,000 ohm resistivity depending on feed water chemistry and 1,000,000 to 2,500,000 ohm resistivity with R.O. water as a feed. These units are designed to regenerate with chemicals DIRECTLY FROM THEIR SHIPPING CONTAINERS—NO HANDLING REQUIRED. Chemicals used are 30% Hydrochloric (HCl) acid and 50% liquid Sodium Hy-droxide (NaOH). Systems are fully automatic with regeneration initiated by a field adjustable resistivity meter. A manual override is included to allow the operator to finish a “run” without interruption.

Mixed Bed Single Tank

Mixed bed single tank automatic water deionizer systems consist of both the cation and the anion resin mixed within the same tank for the ultimate in reduction of dissolved solids. Treated water quality is from 10,000,000 to 18,000,000 ohm Resistance. Resins are separated during regeneration with HCl and NaOH and then re-mixed with air for service (a source of compressed air delivering 6.5 scfm/sq. ft. tank area is required).  A softener is also required to pretreat the anion regeneration water.
